Why You’ll Love This Grape Christmas Tree Cheese Ball

This Grape Christmas Tree Cheese Ball 🎄 is so easy to make and sure to impress, which makes it the perfect centerpiece for your joyous holiday table. It can be served next to a fun Holiday Charcuterie Board and with some crackers or fresh 🥖 bread. Honestly, you don’t even need to have guests to enjoy this! You can absolutely get the kids to help with this recipe; they’ll love helping you arrange the grapes, drizzle the honey, and shape the tree. Have fun with this one!

How to Prepare

🧀 To begin with, unwrap the three wheels of cheese and place them on top of a large piece of saran wrap.

🌲 Next, gently press them together with clean hands or wear kitchen gloves.

🍽️ Now comes the fun part – cover the cheese with the saran wrap and begin to shape it into a Christmas Tree. Once you have achieved the desired shape, remove the saran wrap and place the shaped cheese tree onto a plate.

🍇 Now, it’s time to insert the grapes (cut in half) into the cheese one at a time. You can insert different types of grapes, but make sure they’re seedless.

🌿 After the grapes are arranged, take the rosemary, break off small pieces from the stem, and then insert the rosemary in the spaces between the olives.

🍯 Once the rosemary is in, you can drizzle some hot honey over the tree if you’d like.

⭐ For the final touch, take a 1-inch thick piece of cheese of your choice and press the star cookie cutter into it to form a cheese star.

🥖 Finally, place the star on top of the Christmas tree and enjoy with fresh bread!

Nonna’s Tip

The rosemary in this recipe makes the Christmas tree look even more tree-like, but I choose not to eat it with the cheese; I just use it for the presentation.

Grape Christmas Tree Cheese Ball Variations and Substitutions

This recipe is completely customizable, so feel free to play around with flavors and textures. Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Instead of Boursin cheese , feel free to try cream cheese, goat cheese or a blend of different cheeses.
  2. You can definitely use regular honey 🍯 if you don’t want the spiciness of the hot honey.
  3. If you want some added flavor, consider mixing some herbs 🌿 into the cheese, like rosemary, chives or some parsley.
  4. When it comes to the “ ornaments ,” you can get as creative as you’d like. Substitute the grapes with olives or anything round in shape like halved cherry tomatoes.
  5. You could also include some dried cranberries , raisins or dried apricots for an ‘ornamental’ look.
  6. Get creative with the shape ! Instead of a Christmas Tree, shape the cheese into a snowman ⛄️ or wreath.
  7. If you’d like to make this recipe vegan , simply use vegan cream cheese instead or a dairy-free soft cheese alternative.

Equipment

  • ▢ Nakiri Knife
  • ▢ Christmas Cookie Cutters

Ingredients

  • ▢ 450 grams Boursin cheese , I used 3 packs of shallot and chive
  • ▢ 30 grapes , cut in half
  • ▢ rosemary , for presentation
  • ▢ 1 piece of cheese , for the star

Instructions

  • ▢ Let’s get started by unwrapping the three wheels of Boursin cheese and placing them on top of a large piece of saran wrap.
  • ▢ To ensure a smooth and clean process, gently press the cheese together with clean hands or wear kitchen gloves.
  • ▢ Now, the fun part begins – cover the cheese with the saran wrap and start shaping it into a Christmas tree.
  • ▢ Once you achieve your desired shape, remove the saran wrap and place the shaped cheese tree onto a plate.
  • ▢ It’s time to add the grapes! Wash and cut the grapes in half and insert them one at a time cut side in. I like to insert one red and one green making sure I choose small grapes at the store as large ones will be too heavy for the tree.
  • ▢ For a touch of greenery, take some rosemary and break off small pieces from the stem to insert in the spaces between the olives.
  • ▢ Lastly, let’s add a star on top of our cheese tree. Take a 1-inch thick piece of cheese (any of your choice) and use a star cookie cutter to form a cheese star. Finally, place the star on top of the Christmas tree, optionally drizzle on hot honey and enjoy with some fresh bread!
