Why You’ll Love Fried Boiled Eggs

As a fairly consistent boiled egg consumer, I had to give these a try because if there is a way to upgrade a classic dish , your girl is all in 🙌! And upgrade it did! Now listen, I’m all for keeping things simple. But in this instance, taking that extra step and frying those boiled eggs in olive oil , takes them to a whole new level of flavor and texture that’s worth the side-eye from team #basicboiledeggs 👀. Trust me, the crispy crust adds a magic touch that just speaks to my soul – and who doesn’t love a good crunch? That crispiness really does take any dish from basic to wow .

Variations and Substitutions for Fried Boiled Eggs

  1. Instead of the traditional method of boiling eggs, try using my ♨️ air fryer method , or check out my peeling hack .
  2. Sprinkle spices like paprika, 🧄 garlic powder, everything bagel seasoning, or chili flakes over the eggs as they fry for extra flavor.
  3. You can try this method with 🥚 softer-boiled eggs, but they’re a lot more delicate, so they may break as you turn them. Harder yolks will yield better results here.

Secrets to Perfect Results

The success of these Fried Boiled Eggs lies in the boiled egg itself. Luckily, I have an absolutely fool-proof way to make boiled eggs that slip out of their shells without any unnecessary drama.

To start, I like to place the raw eggs into a pot of water. Then turn the heat on and let the water come to a rolling 🫧 boil. As soon as the water is boiling, turn off the heat and cover the eggs with a lid for 10 minutes (If you want a softer yolk , just let it rest for about 6-7 minutes ). Now, remove the lid and place the eggs into a bowl with cold water and 🧊 ice. The trick is to soak them in the ice bath for about a minute or so or until they are cool enough to handle, but still warm to the touch. Next, take all the eggs out of the ice bath. Gently crack each onto a hard surface, and remove their shells.

This recipe works best with hard-boiled eggs since softer yolks are more delicate and may break when frying.

Best Served With

  • Any 🥗 salad, such as my Cobb Salad Recipe or Simple Green Salad .

  • Serve these sliced up on toast for breakfast, with 🍅 tomato slices and/or avocado.

Common Questions

Use a non-stick or ceramic skillet and ensure the pan and oil are hot before adding the eggs. This helps prevent sticking.

Yes! Butter or ghee both work great and add a richer flavor. Be sure to saute at medium heat to avoid burning the butter.

Use tongs or a gentle grip with a spatula to roll the eggs in the pan, ensuring even browning without breaking them.

It’s possible, but soft-boiled eggs are more delicate and might break while frying. Hard-boiled eggs are recommended for best results.

They’re best enjoyed fresh, but you can boil and peel the eggs ahead of time. Fry them just before serving for optimal crispiness.
