Why You’ll Love Caesar Salad

This salad is not only the ultimate side to any main course, but you can easily turn this dish into a stand-alone meal by adding your favorite protein 🍗 or simply tossing in some croutons for a nice crunch. Regardless of how you prefer it, the fresh, buttery romaine lettuce 🥬 paired with the creamy homemade Caesar dressing will leave you craving this salad every day.

How to Prepare

🧄 In a bowl , whisk together minced garlic, lemon juice, dijon mustard, and a splash of Worcestershire sauce.

🫒 Add Vegenaise (or any mayo) and olive oil to the bowl, whisking again.

🧀 Whisk in grated parmigiano reggiano and anchovy paste. Season with pepper to taste.

🥬 Add chopped romaine lettuce to the dressing and toss.

✨ Sprinkle more parmigiano reggiano and black pepper on top and enjoy!

Nonna’s Tip

Feel free to use plain yogurt instead of mayo and use a few smashed capers instead of the anchovy paste if you are allergic.

Variations and Substitutions

Caesar Salad is versatile, and you can customize it based on your preferences or dietary restrictions.

  1. Toss in homemade or store-bought croutons for extra crunch.
  2. Include a protein source such as salmon, chicken, or 🍤 shrimp to make this salad a complete meal.
  3. You could use 🧀 Pecorino Romano instead of Parmigiano Reggiano.
  4. Mix different 🥬 greens like kale, spinach, or arugula with romaine.
  5. Don’t forget to measure with your ❤️ heart. For example, you can adjust the garlic and anchovy 🐟 paste quantities based on your taste preferences.

Common Questions

How much romaine you like will be totally up to you and how saucy you like your salad. Add it in gradually and toss and adjust.

Feel free to leave out the anchovy paste, but I promise you won’t taste it as it balances out everything beautifully and gives it a hint of saltiness.

f you are allergic to anchovies, be aware that most Worcestershire sauces contain it as an ingredient. Therefore, it’s important to leave this ingredient out as well.

Feel free use a few smashed capers instead of the anchovy paste if you are allergic.

Plain yogurt could be used instead of mayo.
